NLC injunction case: Court slaps UTAG with GH¢3,000 cost

University Teachers Association of Ghana UTAG has been slapped with Gh3, 000 cost by the Labour Court Division 1 of the Accra High Court for what they say was a waste of time.

The University Teachers Association of Ghana UTAG declared a strike on 2nd August as a result of government failing to restore salary levels as agreed since 2012.

The strike has imparted students negatively as they are left stranded.

The National Labour Commission NLC secured an interlocutory injunction to compel University Teachers Association of Ghana UTAG call off it’s strike.

The UTAG refused to comply with the order from the Accra High Court showing the the premise is false.

The Court schedule a time to hear the injunction application by the National Labour Commission against the University Teachers Association of Ghana over the ongoing strike.

The lawyers of UTAG couldn’t complete their process and told the court that processes will be dispensed of as the situation gets tensed and so the hearing couldn’t proceed.

However the court has awarded the cost of Gh3,000 against UTAG and the case being adjourned to Wednesday,19th August.
