Education Minister Appeals To UTAG To Suspend Strike (VIDEO)

The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) have registered their displeasure with the government by suspending teaching and other related activities at various universities in Ghana over their condition of services.

UTAG declared a strike on August 2 over the refusal government to meet out their agreed salary level since 2012.

The National Labour Commission NLC secured an interlocutory injunction to compel UTAG return to lecture halls but they refused to comply; accusing government of bad faith.

The Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum on Hello Fm which is Kumasi based pleaded with UTAG to call off strike and urged them to return to the lecture halls.

“I attend most of their meetings and I will plead with them to call off the strike…if I had my own way they would have done that already but soon everything will be ok” he indicated.
